Midnight search

[Tues 30th] The power has not been restored yet. It is estimated that half (or more) of Long Island has no power still. As an effect the food in our fridges has spoil and we had to throw out 3/4 of the food. We are out late looking for ice to keep the rest of the food refrigerated til the power comes back. Many people are out driving in pitch dark to buy supplies.
Unfortunely CVS ran out of office, as some 7-Elevens.
We continue driving to look for ice. Situations like these make you appreciate the minor things in life.

Charge station

My uncle's house is the only house that has power from our family. We came to charge our phones and computers, as well as to cook some food.
Getting here however was not easy. We had to make many detours as the roads were literally blocked by trees, whole grown trees uprooted lying in the middle of the streets.

Cleaning

There were no damages to the house or neighborhood. We just had to clean up the leaves and twigs the wind shacked from the tree tops.

After the storm

[Mon 29th 11:13AM] the new day has come but we still have no power. We'll asses the damages and cleaning process after breakfast.
The office was closed today due to the storm.

Entertainment in the dark

[Sun 28th 9:10PM] we decided to play games to pass the time, such as chinese checkers, dominos, and Uno. It was nice family quality time.

Power status update

As of 8:00PM the power in our grid has not returned. Some households have power, and some are running on generators. It is said that it may take up to a few days to fully restore power to Long Island.

Town assesment

We went out to get food as there still no electricity in out grid. There are various parts of the city without power. We found a Burger King with power and got food.
All throughout the city there are trees down, fallen from the storm.
This pic shows a fallen tree that has brought down a power line.
We may or may not have power by tomorrow.

Winds

Although the hurricane has not yet make landfall [as far as we know] the winds have picked up in Long Island. Its gathering speed; and swaying the tree tops back and forth.

[update Mon 29th] at the time of this post the hurricane had already passed Long Island. We got the rain and winds from it.

Makeshift shelter

[Sun 28th] We have taken shelter in the basement for the night as we spect the wind to do (some) damage to the property. Our block is surrounded by big trees. We have the means to stay in the barement for the day. The power still out as of 7:54AM.

Power outage

The power has been flickering for a while. It is now completly out [3:35AM].
