First Impressions: I finally was able to buy this Android phone (after countless delays and unavailability) from Sony. The C5306 model is a GSM phone, which means it will work on AT&T and T-Mobile's networks. You will be able to get LTE and HSPA+ speeds depending on your carrier and location. The phone displays a 4.6 inches 720HD screen. It almost fits well in my hand; I can hold it well, but sometimes I can't get my thumb fully across the screen, or my palm rest on the edge of the screen and touches the screen). Other than that this phone is excellent. The UI (User Interface) is great and easy to navigate. One of its biggest features is it Stamina Mode, which doubles the battery life by shutting down the apps while in sleep mode. Also a new feature is the what I call the "Sony Suite," 4 Sony branded apps that bring media enjoyment to a new level (Walkman, Movies, Album, Sony Select). Google powers the browser, maps, and the store app (the Play Store). And Google Now works as a "Siri" assistant, but with much more reliability. Overall, this phone is a must buy if you are in the market for a Mid-Range phone.

Lover Never Dies

This love tale by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber tells the continuing story of The Phantom of the Opera. Occurring 10 years after the events of Phantom, this story takes place in Coney Island, NY. Christine and her family are called to NY to sing in a new opera. In their visit, they are invited to Phantasma, Coney Island's circus show run by Mr. Y (The Phantom).
This story unravels the relationship between Christine and the Phanton.

The Musical opened in London to mixed reviews. A revised version opened in Australia to more favorable reviews.

The only chance to see it outside those countries is through DVD, BlueRay, or digital download of the Australian Cast. This version, although amazingly staged and choreograph, it lacks emotion in the musical in performance.

If you want to listen to the songs, please do yourself a favor and listen to the original London cast recording performed by Ramin Karimloo (the Phantom) and Sierra Boggess (Christine). They also performed marvelously in the filming of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall.

BK brunch and the weekend

I had brunch with Chris today before leaving my stay in the city. I had spent the whole weekend in the Manhattan and Greenpoint, since Friday.

Friday: I took the day off to relax from a stressful week full of turns and surprises, meltdowns and what not. I met Chris at Central Park to enjoy the sunny warm day. We had great conversations about all topics imaginable [which makes me believe that he's getting use to my craziness and randomness], which makes me appreciate the good guy that he is. We did some shopping in the afternoon, and had dinner later in the evening at Nooch [Nooch's homepage] on 8th Avenue. After dinner we made our way back to BK for the night.

Saturday: The next day I had a picnic, again, in Central Park with the guys and girls. By the end I was a bit exhausted; I got there at 1:30PM and left around 7:00PM. There were a lot of fun, laughs, and food. However, I was late to go to the village to attend my friend Ted's birthday dinner. I arrived around 7:30PM but everyone seemed in a good mood and not starving. It was nice to see everyone from college together again [Jason, Sunil, Andrea, Barry], at least for a couple of hours. Then I had to rush back to BK [since I was late; yet again] to meet Chris after work [I really had a busy day]. We went out to the Metropolitan Bar [Info page] on Lorimer Ave, between Metropolitan Avenue and Devou Street. We had a nice time there and I meet some of his friends, but I was tired from earlier in the day, so I was not very sociable. He was very understanding though, and we took a cab back home [well, his home].

Sunday: The day came and we had a nice brunch at [this] diner later in the morning. We sat outside, and although the air was humid, we enjoyed the sunshine and the warmth. While all this was happening I was carrying 20lbs of luggage in my backpack. I suppose that is a good strengthening workout for my back, but the humidity was damping my good mood throughout the afternoon. Not to the point where I would turn into a maniacal bothered beast, but more like "argh it's too hot, even for me [and that is saying a lot, since I love heat and I come from Peru]." After we parted ways, I made my way back into the city. I caught up with Tom and we decided to watch "Clash of the Titans 3D." No movie in my personal opinion can be made better through this 3D craze. The movie I’m afraid was bad. The story line was completely different from the original movie. The acting was not great. The 3D gimmicky, it served no purpose to the movie whatsoever, and I spent $17.50 to watch this movie; definitely the price was not worth it. This movie is a DVD rental if anything. This used to be my favorite movie as a child, and it was just disappointing. After that I made my way back home to LI.

I had great moments throughout the weekend, so it was definitely a good one. Can't wait for more to come; although I suspect more of these moments might be spent in BK going forwards [God willing].

Review of Gundam UC Epi.01:Day of the Unicorn

Telephone [review]

Yesterday night was the worldwide premier of Lady Gaga's "Telephone" video. In my opinion this is the best song in the Monster album, and this video became the best [so far] as well. Splash became like the Super bowl of Gay Culture, both floors packed to tune in at 11:30PM to watch the premiere in Chelsea Lately’s show. All the club screens were showing the event. The air in the room was intense [gay for gaga] as the countdown commenced: guys restless, and queens screaming for the room to be quiet. Then the video started playing and a huge roar greeted it. As the video played everyone had a comment to make, and roars kept on coming at strategic points [check the video link below and you'll see why]. At the end everyone was more than excited and proud of what Gaga had produce: another moment in pop culture music transcended into history. Similar to some "story" videos, the video is about 9 minutes long [the song being 3:40 minutes long]. Even though the video is exceptionally long, you will be fascinated and enthralled by Gaga and Honey B. My personal moment of enjoyment was the brief cameo appearance by Stephanie. That was amazing and pure genius! My other highlight was the bail out scene, classic! I have to say that this video definitely pushes the envelope in many aspects. Just in regards to the choreography this video is gold. The best performances come after the diner episode [Ein... Zwei... Drei!], the intensity of the video increased and this is shown in the dance performances as well. Lastly, Beyonce is definitely up to par with Gaga on this video; her performance was just as exquisite. Unfortunaly Beyonce won't course [hehe]. The reason why I love Lady Gaga is that she keeps growing and maturing musically as well as artistically, not a thing that many artists experience unfortunaly. It is a joy to see what she comes up next. She is truly a master of art and performance, and she does it all for us the fans. Enough talk, go and see for yourself:

The White Queen and the Olympians

[February 15-MLK Day] On Monday I went to the movie theaters with my sister and my cousin to watch "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." The movie was great, it had many elements I liked, such as the mythology stories [duh], mystery, and action. I have to say though that the movie was a bit predictable from the beginning. My guess would be that the adaptation from the book was cut somewhat short. At least that is what I hear from people who read the book. The movie was enjoyable though.


Before going in we had to make a line to enter the theater. So this picture [the blog pic] was taken while waiting on line. It's an advertisement for the upcoming Tim Burton adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Anne Hathaway looks amazing in this movie, and from what I can see in the commercials I will like her character. I don't remember the “White Queen” from any previous adaptations, but then again I never paid any attention them, as I found the story itself quite boring. Perhaps this adaptation will change my mind about Alice in Wonderland.

Gundam UC Preview impression

The first thing I did today when I woke up was to check the Gundam news on my phone's RSS reader. There, like everyday other day, I checked for the latest Gundam news on my fellow Blogspotter's page Ngeekhiong. I was informed that there was a preview of latest Gundam OVA. So, I clicked on the article's link and I watched the first 7 minutes of Day of the Unicorn, the first OVA episode in the Gundam UC series. The following video in Youtube is my impression of the preview as I'm watching it for the very first time. There are a few curse words [mild], so beware [hehe] and enjoy!

Meet the breeds

Welcome to "Meet the Breeds," a show convention about dogs and cats. I have to say that this event was actually entertaining. I got to see different breeds of dogs on display from all over the world. There were also show, which were fun to watch. There was also lots of free goodies the vendors were giving away as promotions. I believe it happens every year, so I would like to go next year. Maybe next time I can have a more in depth coverage of the event. Go check it out!

The Lost Symbol

I was so excited to pick up this book today. The awaited new novel by Dan Brown 'The Lost Symbol,' Robert Langdon's new adventure. I read the first 5 chapters, and I love it. I'm trying to pace myself with the reading so I can enjoy the story longer. The mistery revolves around a powerful ancient secret which is hidden in D.C., and the quest to find it. I can't wait to figure out what it is. I'll try to post a review after I'm finish with the book. Until then I'll continue my reading. Chapter 6...

Jay-Z live!

So, I'm watching Jay-Z's concert live from Madison Square Garden, through fuse, commercial free. I have to say that I'm not a rap, hip-hop, fan at all but I do enjoy Jay-Z's music. He sounds different from the rest. I think everyone has a favorite Jay-Z tune. He penetrates audiences that no other artist can (maybe except Béyonce? Hehe). This concert benefits the 9/11 relief fund; what a great way to bring the city together on this date. Far from worries and fear, tonigth is all about unity and entertainment for NYC. Thanks Jay-Z. 1!
