A pool of gello

Have you ever jumped into a pool of 3,500 gallons of jello? Well The Leukmiae & Lymphoma Society gives you the chance to do so. Participants raise $250 to slide into this delicious pool. All the proceeds go towards blood cancer patients aid and finance, and to research.
Have fun for a good cause. Jump into the chance to save lives! Gello slide.

Drinks

So, I'm a bit full on drinks. The wine that I had with lunch was great ( a rosé). I attemped to meet with my friends after but had no luck, as they had other plans. I decided to go home instead, after an afternoon of shopping, but I just had to stop in at a bar for another drink in Chelsea :-)
I'm currently having a $3 Bud Light draft at Gym Bar. The crowd is ok (a bit older for my taste), and the music is not bad. It would be better with Luis around but alas he's not. After this I'll go home and build my new model kit.
Tomorrow is father's day so we'll celebrate it at my aunt's house with the family.

Fire Island, the first trip

Last weekend I took a weekend get away to Fire Island for the first time this summer, to scape the stress of work and life. It may sound dramatic but work has been intense as the the fiscal year is closing, and as the bookkeeper I need to account for all financials.
Ricky had invited to come with as he needed a break too. We book a hotel at The Grove Hotel as it was the cheapest choice 3 days before our trip. It was very convenient as the Ice Palace is right in the premises, so we could drink and go to sleep right after, lol. Saturday [June 9th] was suppose to rain, but gladly the sky was only cloudy in the late afternoon. Sunday was gorgeous however, we hanged out by the pool after breakfast and took some sun. I swam in the pool for while which was quite refreshing. We left just in time, as as we got back to the mainland the clouds were gathering.
I can wait to go back for the weekend, maybe stay 2 days. I think it's fund to stay over with friends. Maybe next time we'll get a place for 4.

Queens Pride

This year Queens celebrated 20 years of gay pride [June 3rd, 2012]. After all this time, and after all we have gone through I am so glad that we have time to celebrate the history we started in NY, Queens. This was my first time attending the Queens pride, so I did not know what to expect, as my only reference is the NYC pride parade and celebration.

The parade was great, and it was well executed. It started at 88th street (I believe) on 37th avenue, to 74th street. The Only thing that was a bit of a downer was that the parade was too short, as there were not many floats. The parade must have lasted for about an hour and a half. Since the gay community is mostly center on Jackson Heights I can understand the size of the parade. But of course, people form all over NY come to enjoy in the festivities.

The celebration continued with the stage show at 37th Road. Performers entertained us with music and dance for a couple of hours. It did rained for a about half an hour but after it the sun came out and we kept in enjoying the afternoon. After the rain, a rainbow appeared to celebrate the day with us.

Once the stage show was over, it was time to hit the bars. For some reason this year the bars were very crowded, to the point the cops had to close entrance to most of the bars along Roosevelt Avenue. The people were not to happy about this, but I'm sure everyone found a place to enjoy themselves.

Regardless of the rain and the cops bar-blocking (hehe) the fun, the day was great and it was so much fun! I will definitely attend next year with my friends.
