Jorgie & Team Ab Fab need your help! AIDS WALK NY 2015‏

Hello friends,

The AIDS Walk is just 4 days away and I couldn't be more excited about it! This will be my 7th year walking in the streets of New York to spread awareness and raise funds to help people who are affected by HIV/AIDS. I will be walking with my two rock stars: Luis & Danny! We will walk 10 kilometers, in rain or shine, to make a difference in the life of others.

Please help us reach our goal of a world without HIV/AIDS by donating to the team: https://ny.aidswalk.net/jorgiellanos

Even a small contribution goes a long way. Also, it is not too late to join if you'd like to walk with us. Let me know if you have any questions about joining the team or making a donation. I want to thank you in advance for your help. Wish us luck too for a nice fun day!

Sincerely,

Jorgie

Surface Pro 3 (amateur) review

I'm writing this quick review from BestBuy at the Microsoft Surface experience table.
First impressions: I really like this product.

*The form factor of a tablet and laptop combined is great as you have more possibilities for playing and working.
*The new keyboard feels amazing, and I am happy to report that it is a delight to type on it. You get a satisfying click on each keystroke, not loud enough to bother anyone around, by clicky enough to let you know you are tapping the keys correctly.
*The touch screen is multiscreen which I have mostly used for launching apps, but not really to interface with apps.
*The mouse track feels a bit uneasy on my fingers as they slide through the surface of the track easily. I think the mouse track from the Surface 2 felt much better. Perhaps I can calibrate it on the Surface 3?
*I just learned the keyboard is backlight, great for dim lit environments.
*There are options for memory expansion through SD card. Not too shabby.
*The kickstand now can be set at any angle.

What I don't like about it:
*Microsoft insists in selling a "productivity" laptop, but they do not launch with Office. All I would ever want is to work with Office (in my personal experience), but it does not come installed on the Surface Pro. For such a pricy (starting at $999.99), productivity hailed power house, it should come installed with Office as a selling feature.
*I have not been able to try out the App Store, but I heard that are not as many apps in it. As long as I had my key apps, like Instagram, Groupon, Fandango, Google +, Netflix, etc., I'd be happy. My current laptop runs Windows 7 so I don't run apps on laptops a lot. But having them is a good option.

Overall, not a bad computing device but I would much lean towards buying a Surface 2, which comes with Office, and it's similar enough to the Surface Pro 3 (not in terms of processing power). And the Surface 2 comes with free One Drive storage, and free 1 year free of Skype calls. Altogether I feel (for me) a better value for my money and computing behaviors.

AIDS Walk NY 2014

Hello everyone,

Spring is finally here, and I couldn't be more happier for the mild warmth NY is receiving. May has come which means is time for the AIDS Walk in NYC. Honestly, I am going through a lot at work and my personal life that I thought about possibly not doing the walk this year. But I decided that I needed to persevere, put aside my problems, and act for a great cause: to join a movement to create an AIDS free generation. Although I am sending out this email very late (the walk is on May 18th), I want to reach out to as many people as I can to make a difference in the life of others. Also, it is better late than never ;)

So, how can you assist? You can by making a donation to my fundraising page: Jorgie Llanos
(http://awny2014.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1089371&lis=1&kntae1089371=0C2DAD13B55F44DBA2EB7013D4F463D7&supId=211356124)

Any amount helps. Help me make a difference in the life of others, so one day we may look at AIDS as a thing of the past. In the meantime, the money raised will help with education programs and services for the people who need it.
Every bit helps, so I hope you can support me in any way you can. Thank you in advance, and wish me good weather for the day of the walk on May 18th :)

1/100 MG Wing Gundam ProtoZero overview

Gundam News: MG Wing Gundam Proto Zero, RG Strike Freedom, and MG Gundam X

Hello there,
This week does not bring much news, rather I'm doing a recap of past announced Gunpla. Here we go:
MG 1/100 Wing Gundam Proto Zero EW - has finally been released, in Japan! I am very exited about this model and can't wait to build it! I will do an overview once I finish it. In the meantime check out Hacchaka's review of this model.
Review by Hacchaka: http://gundamguy.blogspot.com/2013/10/mg-1100-wing-gundam-proto-zero-ew_4401.html

RG 1/144 Strike Freedom - The new RG model is almost here. This model is scheduled for a November release. I'm not a big fan of the Strike Freedom, but I do like that they are putting a lot of detail into this small model. The inner frame for the kit will be molded in "gold." And there will also be a Full Burst effect part set to be release around the same time. This however seems to be a P-Bandai Online Hobby exclusive. Pre-order while you can if you're a fan.

MG 1/100 Gundam X - Lastly we have new images of the newest MG to be announced, the Gundam X. It's looking very good, and there is even a color image to help visualize the scheme. Also not a big fan of Gundam X, but I'm sure there will be many to enjoy it. Have I said I love the satellite cannon though? I do!

I also want to plug some info for my local Gunpla/Anime store, Image Anime located in New York. Been buying Gunpla for years at this store, and it is my number one stop for all things Gunpla. And they are open every day! Visit their website: http://www.imageanime.com/. They do online orders too.

Let me know what you are looking forward too in the next couple of months with Gunpla. I just cannot wait for the Wing Proto Zero. Are you as excited as I am for it? Let me know in the comment section below. As always, let's talk Gunpla!

Xperia Z Ultra: All You Need To Know

I was thinking about possibly getting an Xperia Z Ultra when it first came out. The idea was great, but I wasn't sure if it was a good match for me. In the end I did get the Xperia SP, which is the perfect phone for me (at the moment). I found this review done by Erica Griffin and I found it very detailed and extremely helpful. Definitly a quality review. Please watch her other reviews at: Erica Griffin, the technology nerds that likes to film stuff.

Enjoy the review.

Surface Pro Review (LIVE Today)

A live review (although a couple of months old) of the Surface Pro. Just reviewing as the Surface Pro 2 will be announced this coming Monday, September 23. If the price is reasonable I would buy it. But please Microsoft include Office for the love of God...
