Editing a weekend in 2 hours

What do I do in my time off? Well, if I'm not watching tv I'm probably writting and editing my blog entries. Tonight i was editing the entry ''Amazing weekend.'' I was listening to music and writting it at the same time. I like to do that often: doing something + listening to music. So it took me about 2 hours to finish it, mainly because I'm a perfectionist, and I edit until every 'i' is dotted and every reference documented. I have to admit that it turned out better than I expect it. Yea me! Journalism is hard, lol. Yes, a blogger is essentially a journalist. I only do it for fun, and to keep my friends and family engaged with my shennanigans. Leave a comment, or rate the posts if you like what you see (read).

The White Queen and the Olympians

[February 15-MLK Day] On Monday I went to the movie theaters with my sister and my cousin to watch "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." The movie was great, it had many elements I liked, such as the mythology stories [duh], mystery, and action. I have to say though that the movie was a bit predictable from the beginning. My guess would be that the adaptation from the book was cut somewhat short. At least that is what I hear from people who read the book. The movie was enjoyable though.

Before going in we had to make a line to enter the theater. So this picture [the blog pic] was taken while waiting on line. It's an advertisement for the upcoming Tim Burton adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Anne Hathaway looks amazing in this movie, and from what I can see in the commercials I will like her character. I don't remember the “White Queen” from any previous adaptations, but then again I never paid any attention them, as I found the story itself quite boring. Perhaps this adaptation will change my mind about Alice in Wonderland.

Down 5th Ave.

[February 21st] This picture was taken as I was crossing the street from Central Park to the Apple store. I thought the view was nice, so I snapped it. 5th Ave. is the strip where you can find the most fashionable clothing stores in the city. Even on a winter day, the day goes on down 5th just as it were a summer day.

Yummy cupcake, mmm!

[February 26th] My sister made cupcakes for no apparent reason it seems. Me being the usual snacker, eat one instead of having dinner. It was tasty, I'll give her that. She had hers done with whip cream and caramel, but for some reason it keep falling into the kitchen top, lol, so she was very furstrated about it.

Amazing weekend

So my amazing weekend happened last week. It was quite eventful, more than I expected. It was actually unexpected, which makes it great I guess. Anyways, here we go:

[Day 1-Feb 20th] I spent most of the day with Tom that day, and I got to say that I got to know him a bit better so that's always nice, getting to know your friends in a more intimate setting.

So I was, quite oddly, on time at 3:00PM at his apartment. I didn't plan it that way. I took the (3) downtown at 2:46PM which would have kept me close to 3:00PM. I think the best part about that ride was that I got off on a different exit, making my walk not only shorter to Gold St., but as I got off the station I actually got reception on my cell phone, which is something that never happens when I get off at Fulton St. So that was good news to begin with. Then I made my way up to the apartment, and as I ran the bell, I noticed that it was 3:00PM. Tom couldn't believe I was on time either, lol, he thought I was walking aimlessly until the proper time. As I got in he was just finishing preparing the glühwein, with rum! Mmmm. I have to admit that I actually couldn’t taste the rum, but it gave it a bit of extra spice, it was good. Then we just talked about our jobs and how slow I am to drink alcoholic beverages as we eat chocolate cookies from Whole Foods. At around 4:15PM we made our way to see the Wolfman.

[Picture source: Wikipedia : Mulled Wine]

I just loved this movie [despite what other people think of it]. It was the remake of the original Wolfman movie, just brought to the 21st century thanks to the magic of CG imaging. The ending was different from the original, but I think it made it better.

After that we made our way to B Bar & Grill in the east village. Woah what perfect place! Not only is the food just tasty, the ambiance is grand, and the price is right. The garden was the highlight of the place, because you can dine and just look at the buildings around you, the view is very nice. We had a conversation about religion [lol], and our views on life while drinking [don't order white wine sangria-is just not strong]. Even though we have very different perspectives I liked that we were able to sincerely respect and acknowledge each other's points of view. So the conversation was quite enjoyable, even while talking about religion.

Then we made our way to meet Atanas and Justin at Pieces for Karaoke night. Another good night, even though I was [a bit] awkward at first because going from an intimate setting to a huge crowd, which was a bit of a shocker. By the end of the night I was being more myself though. After a few drinks I went home on the "drunk" train [the 1:42AM from Penn Station to Jamaica>Port Jefferson].

[Day 2-Feb 21st] I was supposed to meet Jason at Central Park for ice skating at 1:30PM. However I woke up around 11:00AM. I was not sure if I was going to go, but after going upstairs and finding an empty house, I decided that the best thing was to go out to meet Jason regardless of the time. It turns out I got to Central Park around 2:15PM, and I was still early, as Jason was running [a tad] late. So I meet him, Atanas, Carlos, and Carlo's friend Carmelo at the Apple store on 5th Ave. From there we made our way up the skating rink. It turned out that from our group only 3 people really wanted to ice skate. I wasn't one of them, I just wanted to take pictures for the blog. After Justin and Tom joined us we decided to go to a wine bar. We went to the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle. After window shopping for a while we made our way up to the wine bar: Clo. Clo is a small wine bar, however, what they lack in size, they make up with great service and a vast selection of wines from around the world. Obviously size does not matter over quality. We must have spent like 2 hours at Clo [I'm a slow drinker, remember?], it was so much fun. I had never been to a wine bar, and I have to say it was one of the greatest experiences ever. Not only did I get to have 3 glasses of the best wine, but I was having these funny and candid conversations about life with our friends. And the conversations never got dull, it was like a stream of topics coming from left to right, but they were quite enjoyable and engaging. I learnt a lot about my friend's love lives, lol. I guess that happens when you drink wine. Wait, how could I forget the digital menu?! A bit confusing to manuever at first, but fun to play with. Also very helpful when you have no idea what to drink and you're overwhelmed by the selections. If that fails, just ask an attendant for help.
[Btw-If you ever go to Clo and you get the pleasure to be attended by Kendra, please tip her very well. She's very helpful, friendly, and cute]

So what do you do after you have 3 glasses of wine? You got eat of course, lol. We went to a dinner on 9th Ave. I don't remember the name of the place, but next time I go [because I will go back] there I will make note of it. The burger was just out of this world! Extremely delicious meat, fresh vegetables, great taste, there is nothing else like it. Again, we had a few inappropriate conversations, for a dinner, but they staff was very cool. After that, I just went home and watched Desperate Housewives [a good episode, but Katherine is a lesbian? WTF?].

The string of events from this weekend may very ordinary for people, but for me it was just a good time. I got close to my friends, I drank well, and I eat well, what else is there to say? Quality time certainly makes a day [or a weekend] seen just amazing.

Search function!

The "Search" function has been added to my blog :D

It allows you to type in a word, and the engine will display every post in my blog in which the word searched was entered. Not only that but it will display the results for other pages link in relation to the word, and a google search on the net. Rather engineous. Just give it a try and type "Gundam."

Geo tagging test [Update]

This is a test for Blogspot's geo tagging capabilities. Nonetheless a nice pic [Aug 09]. Where in the world???

[Update 1] 2:09 PM: I uploaded a geo tagged picture [the above], but Blogger doesn't upload the information. Instead you have to download a widget to track your geo tags. I tried it but the process was way too complicated. The new editing services give you the option to geo tag by 3rd party means only. Geo tag test = FAIL!
I may convert to the old formatting style again. At least that has Spell Check. Why wouldn't the new format have spell check? WTH?!
[Update 2] Btw, the picture was taking at Columbus Circle, NYC.

Gundam UC Preview impression

The first thing I did today when I woke up was to check the Gundam news on my phone's RSS reader. There, like everyday other day, I checked for the latest Gundam news on my fellow Blogspotter's page Ngeekhiong. I was informed that there was a preview of latest Gundam OVA. So, I clicked on the article's link and I watched the first 7 minutes of Day of the Unicorn, the first OVA episode in the Gundam UC series. The following video in Youtube is my impression of the preview as I'm watching it for the very first time. There are a few curse words [mild], so beware [hehe] and enjoy!

Yesterday was my cousin's birthday. I had come from the city to find that this party was greater that I expected. The was plenty of food and liquor to go around. It was a great party.

The F Word

This is the stamp you get to get into the club. The crowd is varied, but mostly cassual. The musics varies from room to room which is great if you want to change the atmosphere around you, as the people also change from room to room. Be careful not to arrive after 12am, the regular cover of $10 [$5 on the website?] goes out the door and you will get stuck paying $20. Otherwise you'll connections, or steal a ticket [;-)] to get in for free. Regardless, the expiriance is a good one so check it out.

The Chandelier Room

[Basement, The F Word] This room comes after the basement foyer. Actually this picture was taken from the foyer. The anvience is great, just look at the finece of the room. The kind of music is alternative, indi, so I didn't enjoy it as much.
[I had to enhance the contrast and brightness of the original picture, that is why the subjects look grainy. This might be a good situation in which DRE is useful]

The Gaming Room

[Back room on basement floor, The F Word] So this room was a nice surprise, it was themed with retro gamd charactes, such as space invaders, tetris and pong. The was even a performance piece representing pong. The music in this room is mostly electronic but it fits the theme. Great room.

Day of the Unicorn

After the preview premier in Tokyo, Japan [February 2nd], today is the preview premier in Hong-Kong, China of Gundam UC [Unicorn]. Day of the Unicorn, is the 1st episode in a 6 part episode 50mins OVA marking the final story in UC century. The episodes will be release in DVD and Blue-Ray starting on March 12 [Gundam UC at Amazon.com]. The story plot revolves around the secret of the Universal Century [the RX-0 Unicorn], a young student at AE [Anaheim Electronics] Banagher Links, and the remnants of the Neo Zeon forces lead by a mysterious, yet familiar, masked man. I can't personally wait for the episodes to come out. After 30 years of Gundam, the final episode is about to start. Please follow the link below for more information.
